Hoa túc

"Hoa Tuc - Poppy came from the owners’ desire to explore new avenues in Vietnamese cooking."

ABOUT

Staying clear from “fusion”, we established a menu to wow the senses and gave Saigon its first Contemporary Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant in August 2008. Making great use of a historical location, Saigon’s old opium refinery, Hoa Tuc was build, designed and furnished locally with custom made wrought iron furniture, cast iron lamps and pergolas. It boats a beautiful indoor seating area with original columns, a front terrace with a Paris Metro inspired roof and a secluded al fresco dining section to its side with creepers and greenery all around. Enough to make anyone forget the madness of the city while seating in the very heart of it.

Review

Located in the middle of a busy Saigon, Hoa Tuc is a hidden gem that gave us a sense of tranquillity through a lead of historical alley. The restaurant has a beautiful French colonial-inspired courtyard with full coverage from wooden pergolas and vintage wrought iron furniture. The interior is also nicely decorated in pastel green tone and highlighted by red curtains and deem lighting effects. The staff had a friendly and professional attitude; they paid attention to the flow of our dinner and gave us the proper assistance when needed. As for the appetizer, we ordered the vegetarian platter consisting of different rolls and fried balls. The rolls stuffed with seasonal vegetables and dipped in the sweet and sour sauce were refreshingly delicious, while the fried pieces had a crunchy texture and golden colour. The salad dish was pretty nutritious, balancing between fibre from green leaves, beetroots and protein from tofu and sunflower seeds. The sautéed eggplants and fried tofu were a little bit salty yet tasted exceptionally good, presenting the authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a contemporary twist.
