Review

Be An vegetarian is located on the ground floor of a shopping complex Saigon Garden, making it a unique restaurant among the ordinary concept café and restaurants in the bustling city area that we encounter every day. The restaurant has an open space with transparent glass walls and a contemporary interior design. The harmony between the warm shade of wooden furniture and the industrial style layout creates a modern and attractive dining place. A little touch of lively greens brings out the natural vibe to the restaurant. The staff had an amicable attitude but was quite distractive during the peak hours when office employees went out for lunch. As for the food, we started with a sweet and sour salad with a healthy mix of different vegetables and mushrooms. However, the dish was a bit salty as it had too much dressing. The sir-fried pumpkin bud was quite plain yet refreshing and balanced the salty taste when we combined it with the salad dish. The tofu omelette with tomato sauce was delectable and comforting; the crispy silken tofu on top made the dish even more delightful. We finished our lunch with Southern sweet and sour mushroom soup – a typical Vietnamese cuisine dish, and we could feel the authentic taste even without meat.

THROUGH THE LENS OF V'AESTHETE

Sweet and sour salad (fried mushroom, carrots, cucumbers, lotus, peanuts, fried rice cake, mixed sweet and sour sauce)

Southern sweet and sour mushroom soup (mushrooms, fried tofu, pineapple, tomato, sprouts, green onion)

Stir-fried pumpkin bud with X.O. sauce (pumpkins sauté with X.O. sauce, garlic)

Tofu omelette with tomato sauce (fried silk tofu, fried eggs dipped in tomato sauce)

Which elements impress us?

We really like the open dining space, its warm atmosphere and how it layouts the seat with contemporary décor. We also like the corner that displays all homemade products, an interesting gift idea for those who love healthy food brands. The food is made with fresh ingredients instead of fake meats and exquisitely delivers a familiar 'umami' taste from regular meat dishes.

Which elements could be improved?

We wish the salad dish would have been less salty with an optional extra dressing aside to adjust the taste according to our preference. Besides, we were happy with our experience at Be An.
